Harris has has received three Best Supporting Oscar noms, for Apollo 13, The Truman Show, and The Hours, and was up for Best Actor for his portrayal of American painter Jackson Pollock in the 2000 film Pollock, losing out to Gladiator's Russell Crowe.
The two men have somehow managed to make it through their lengthy careers without crossing paths on screen, however they are both set to co-star in the 2016 sci-fi film Geostorm, along with Gerard Butler, Abbie Cornish, Jim Sturgess and Robert Sheehan.
